Rounded Balls and Pictures! - Chocolate Chip Peanut Butter Banana Balls

With the team go ahead to get these balls rolling, I took into consideration a certain team members request of including chocolate in my next batch. With the next workout coming up being the hardest of the week, I figured a power ball with a slightly high calorie, fat, and protein content could be justifiable. And what better than chocolate and peanut butter to accomplish that?

This recipe is a little more creative and advanced than the first - what with the recent purchase of a food chopper to chop up the oats as well as some high protein TVP (textured vegetable protein - never heard of that before) and the rediscovery of a mini-jack-o-lantern muffin tin that produces nicely rounded balls instead of the more glob-looking balls from before.

And to follow suit, this blog post is a little more creative and advanced than the first - what with the addition of mid-cooking pictures inspired by some other food blogs I was perusing.

Laura's Chocolate Chip Peanut Butter Banana Balls

Mix Dry Ingredients:
3.5 c Oats (but then chop then in a food chopper)
0.25 c Flaxseed Meal
0.25 c High Protein TVP (Textured Vegetable Protein)
2 Scoops Chocolate Protein Powder
1 c Dry Nonfat Milk

Mix Wet Ingredients:
2 Mashed Bananas*
0.5 c Peanut Butter
*Note: Ideal banana masher not present due to having a real job in a different state and hence their lumpy consistency.

More Wet Ingredients:
0.75 c Syrup
2 Egg Whites
1 tsp Vanilla Extract
0.25 c Orange Juice

Combine wet and dry ingredients.

Add:
1 c Semi-Sweet Chocolate Chips

Round into balls on a greased cookie sheet.
Bake at 325°F for around 15 minutes or until brown on edges.
(see the roundedness?!)

Makes approximately 48 balls.

I'm anxious to see the team reaction on these. I tried one that broke apart probably from the over-awesomeness of its existence and it seemed a little vegetable-y, perhaps from the high protein TVP or my imagination, more likely that since the TVP package said it would absorb whatever food it was around. I also thought the chocolate protein powder was going to add a little more chocolate kick to it, but I couldn't really distinguish it at all - maybe next time I'll try using cocoa powder.
